The Whispers Receive the Highest Grammy Honor From San Francisco Chapter

Sunday, June 12, 2005, the legendary Whispers were
presented with the Governors Award, the highest
honor bestowed by an Academy Chapter. The San
Francisco Chapter's Governors Awards is an annual
celebration honoring music legends whose creative
talents and accomplishments have crossed all
musical boundaries to be recognized as an asset to
our music community.
On

Leslie
Stoval, a veteran disc jockey from KBLX-FM “The
Quiet Storm” Bay Area radio, and longtime supporter
and fan of the Whispers, presented the Whispers
with this prestigious and historical award.
Governors Award recipients have professional
careers that embody high standards of excellence
and integrity that the Academy champions and
promotes. This year’s honorees included
the Doobie Brothers, Michael Morgan, the Mormon
Tabernacle Choir and the Whispers.
